The First Step towards Freedom is this

Freelancing to Entrepreneurship

Becoming a freelancer is the first step to becoming a successful entrepreneur. The goal to taking these steps is to escape the 9-5 grind is just about everyone’s goal. But this goal requires investing in yourself, self-discipline and consistently trying to develop skills or sharpen present ones.

How to get started in freelancing

Start by assessing what your craft is. What do you enjoy as a hobby or what are you naturally good at. Exploring what it is that you currently do that someone else could benefit from. If you struggle in this area, freelancing opportunities range from all kinds of skills and most can be self-taught – so don’t take on too much pressure. If you don’t have any skills, consider some things that you have an interest in and learn to develop from there. For example, coding, web-development, graphic designs are just a few skills that you can teach yourself and a niche that many business could use and look for constantly.

Once you have figured out what you are or could learn to be good at, the next step is to build a portfolio. A portfolio, by means of a website or on your social media page, is a great way to get exposure and find potential clients. Create free profiles on websites to introduce yourself and whatever it is that you are offering.

When you are a beginner freelancer, take this into consideration when pricing your services. Price your work at a reasonable rate, but don’t over charge neither under value. Do some research on what other similar talents are charging so you can determine whether you are right at the same margin or need to revalue your prices.

A self-driven career is one of the best choices a freelancer can make. And if you made it this far, you are on your way.
